In 2012 we will have a “Friendly Contest” among the Conferences. The Conference showing the biggest increase in membership at the end of the year as compared to 2011 will receive an iPad which is being donated by a Board member. The iPad is to go to the chapter within the leading conference with the biggest percentage gain in membership. That chapter is free to determine how it will be used, perhaps a mini-raffle?

GOOD NEWS: When we reported the numbers as of October 21, 2011, our Metropolis Membership had dropped 9%. Several chapters took the challenge given in the last Newsletter when the report was made. You will note that as of December 21, the drop in membership is only 3% therefore during the last two very busy months, we increased our membership by 6%. Awesome!
The challenge is on for 2012, a new year and new attitudes. Every chapter is asked to set a goal of increasing its membership by at least 10%. Don't forget to seek every renewal and don't forget to recruit the men. We all know that much of what we do would not be possible without the support from the men.

Our 2012 Goal:
Your Metropolis Board Membership Committee with the Board’s blessings has set a goal for 2012 that is achievable if we all put our efforts forth. We want every conference to show an increase from the end of 2011 to the end of 2012. That means that every officer, every member and the membership chairman of each chapter has to at least look at the 2010 roster and the 2011 roster and reach out to those who have not renewed their 2012 membership. Approach these members and ask them to renew for 2012.
Don’t forget to also reach out to new members and the men. If you are reading this and have not yet renewed for 2012, complete the form and send it with your stewardship to your chapter Treasurer or President. Chapters are welcome to print the Membership Registration Form in this newsletter and use it or adapt it and use it."

Dear sisters,Congratulations to all of you who worked so hard to close the gap from our first published membership report of October 24, 2011. Please see the figures in the table. You took the challenge and we closed the gap from being 317 members behind our 2010 totals to only 108 behind on December 31, 2011. This was all done while coping with the hustle and bustle of the Holidays and all the activities at each of our respective churches.
Let’s get a good start on reaching our members in 2012 by scheduling our membership events early. One chapter reported having its membership table out in December! Try to find the 108 missing members and all those members who have yet to join your chapter. Our goal for 2012 is to increase membership by 10% to at least 3,813 members (4,000 would be better). If all those who are missing from the rosters were found and some of the husbands and sons joined, that would do it.
When we consider all those potential members missing out on the satisfaction of philanthropic work, on the friendships we make and on all the personal development, we could easily increase our numbers.
LET’S GO FOR IT!
Use of Per Capita Funds:
Please remember that your Per Capita to National and to the Metropolis is seed money for the many programs and philanthropic works of our Metropolis and our National. Do go to the National Website http://www.philoptochos.org and the Metropolis Website http://www.atlmetropolis.org and familiarize yourself with all that is done at those two levels and then also look at your own chapter and all that you do and all that you accomplish. We’re awesome!
An Eighty Plus Year Legacy:
We belong to quite a sisterhood that has flourished for over 80 years. Let’s pass on that legacy to all the women of our chapters, to our daughters, to our goddaughters, to our granddaughters and to all the men in our life.
Men Members:
We would like to encourage all of you to get the men in your parish to join. Yes, they can join and this is a population we have not tapped. Many of our works would not be possible without the support of our men who are always there to help us.
